Surgeries & Procedures
In the treatment of gynecological disorders and gynecologic cancers, our fundamental objective is to achieve complete oncological disease control in light of up-to-date international guidelines, while prioritizing the preservation of patient quality of life and tissue integrity. We carry out our clinical and surgical work within Acıbadem Ataşehir Hospital, utilizing state-of-the-art technological infrastructure and minimally invasive (closed surgery) techniques.

Laparoscopic, Robotic, and Open Surgery
In managing gynecological conditions and malignancies, our ultimate aim is to eradicate disease according to the latest scientific evidence while ensuring minimal disruption to patients' long-term physical well-being and daily living.
Key surgical therapies and specialized approaches offered in our clinic include:
1. Uterine (Endometrial) Cancer Surgery:
Surgery remains the cornerstone of endometrial cancer treatment: This approach significantly lowers post-operative pain and shortens recovery time
Sentinel Lymph Node (SLN) Mapping: To prevent extensive unnecessary lymphadenectomy and minimize subsequent leg swelling (lymphedema), specialized near-infrared fluorescence dyes (indocyanine green) are used to target and resect only the primary draining lymph nodes at risk
2. Ovarian Cancer and Advanced-Stage Tumor Surgery
The decisive prognostic factor in ovarian cancer is achieving complete cytoreduction with no visible residual disease (debulking surgery)
Comprehensive Tumor Clearance (Cytoreductive Surgery): When cancer spreads across the peritoneal cavity or adjacent structures, complex multi-visceral resections involving the peritoneum, intestines, and pelvic tissues are meticulously performed
Fertility-Sparing Surgery: In young patients diagnosed at an early stage who wish to maintain reproductive potential, fertility-preserving surgery (removing solely the affected ovary) is safely implemented without compromising oncological outcomes
HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy): In selected patients, heated chemotherapy is circulated within the abdominal cavity intraoperatively to eliminate microscopic residual cancer cells
3. Cervical Cancer and Precancerous Lesions
Timely screening and tailored surgical strategy offer excellent cure rates in cervical pathology
Management of Precancerous Lesions (LEEP & Conization): Cellular dysplasia (CIN) detected on Pap tests or biopsies is eradicated via precise conservative excisions, keeping the uterus intact
Radical Hysterectomy: Early-stage cervical cancer is treated by carefully removing the uterus, parametrial tissues, and regional lymph nodes
Nerve-Sparing Surgery: Autonomic pelvic nerve plexuses controlling bladder and bowel functions are preserved with microsurgical precision to maintain post-treatment physiological functions
Fertility-Preserving Trachelectomy: In young, eligible candidates with early invasive cancer, only the cervix and surrounding supportive tissues are resected while conserving the uterine corpus, keeping pregnancy options viable
4. Vulvar and Vaginal Cancer Surgeries
In managing lesions of the external female genitalia, clear surgical margins are prioritized alongside functional and reconstructive preservation
Safe wide local excision of tumor-bearing tissues
Inguinal lymph node assessment (including sentinel node biopsy where appropriate)
Functional and aesthetic restoration through specialized local advancement or reconstructive flap techniques
5. Complex and Advanced Pelvic Surgeries
Beyond oncology, we provide surgical solutions for complex benign conditions that demand advanced technical expertise
Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis (DIE): Laparoscopic, nerve-sparing complete excision of severe endometriotic lesions involving the bowel, bladder, or ureters
Large Fibroids and Complex Pelvic Masses: Organ-preserving myomectomies and cystectomies in patients with dense pelvic adhesions or a history of multiple surgeries.

Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy. Endoscopic intra-uterine procedures categorized by diagnostic and operative intent:
1. Operative Hysteroscopy (Surgical Treatments)
Hysteroscopic Polypectomy: Camera-guided resection of intra-uterine (endometrial) or endocervical polyps responsible for abnormal uterine bleeding or subfertility
Hysteroscopic Myomectomy (Submucosal Fibroid Resection): Resection of intracavitary submucosal fibroids (Type 0, Type 1, and eligible Type 2) causing heavy menstrual bleeding or recurrent pregnancy loss
Uterine Septum Resection (Metroplasty): Incision and correction of congenital fibrous uterine septa that can trigger recurrent miscarriages and implantation failure
Intrauterine Synechiolysis (Asherman Syndrome): Hysteroscopic release of post-curettage or post-infectious adhesions to restore menstrual outflow and cavity architecture
T-Shaped (Dysmorphic) Uterus Correction: Hysteroscopic metroplasty designed to expand and remodel narrow, constrained uterine cavities
Isthmoceles Resection (Cesarean Scar Defect Repair): Endoscopic correction and re-contouring of the cesarean scar niche to resolve persistent postmenstrual brown spotting and secondary infertility
Endometrial Ablation / Resection: Thermal or electrosurgical destruction of the endometrium for medically refractory abnormal bleeding in women who have completed childbearing (a reliable alternative to hysterectomy)
Removal of Embedded / Lost Intrauterine Devices (IUD): Direct visual extraction of displaced, fragmented, or deeply embedded contraceptive coils
2. Diagnostic (Office) Hysteroscopy
Evaluation of Abnormal and Postmenopausal Bleeding: Direct high-definition visualization of the endometrial cavity to rule out malignancies and focal pathologies
Targeted Endometrial Biopsy: Direct tissue sampling from suspicious focal abnormalities under continuous visualization instead of blind curettage.

Colposcopy
Diagnostic and therapeutic colposcopy procedures performed within our Gynecologic Oncology clinic:
1. Diagnostic Colposcopic Procedures (Mapping & Assessment)
- Colposcopic Cervical Evaluation: Magnified examination of the cervix using 3–5% acetic acid and Lugol's iodine (Schiller test) in patients with abnormal cytology (ASCUS, LSIL, HSIL, AGC) or high-risk HPV infections to identify pathological vascular patterns (acetowhite changes, punctuation, mosaicism, atypical vessels)
- Targeted Punch Biopsy: Precise, magnified sampling targeted directly at areas exhibiting highest-grade cellular dysplasia rather than random biopsies
- Endocervical Curettage (ECC): Sampling of the endocervical canal when the squamocolumnar junction (transformation zone) is not completely visible (Type 3 TZ) or when canal involvement is suspected
- Vaginal and Vulvar Colposcopy (Vulvoscopy / Vaginoscopy): Systematic magnified assessment and biopsy of the vulva and vagina to detect concomitant pre-invasive conditions such as VAIN and VIN
2. Therapeutic and Excisional Procedures
Surgical management executed according to colposcopic and histopathological staging for high-grade dysplasia (CIN 2, CIN 3)
LEEP / LLETZ (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure): Single-pass electrosurgical wire-loop excision of the transformation zone and dysplastic lesions with clearly visualized margins
Cold-Knife Conization (CKC): Precise cone-shaped scalpel excision of the cervix indicated for endocervical extensions, suspected Adenocarcinoma in Situ (AIS), or when microinvasive cancer must be ruled out
Post-Excisonal Colposcopic Surveillance: Structured periodic colposcopic follow-up after LEEP or conization to ensure long-term resolution and detect potential persistent/recurrent CIN.
